IF Elfsborg is pleased to announce that Matilda Mårtensson has extended her contract. The defender has signed a deal that will take her through to the end of the 2028 season. Matilda Mårtensson, 20, joined IF Elfsborg from Varbergs BoIS at the start of the season and has made impressive contributions to the team's defense, helping them to keep a clean sheet in their first eight Elitettan matches. She has also scored a goal, in the home opener against Örebro SK, which ended in a 2-0 win for Elfsborg. – I was really happy when Elfsborg wanted to extend my contract, it was no difficult decision. I'm really enjoying it here, I believe a lot in the team and know we can go far together, says Mårtensson. After being in the club for just over half a year, it's now clear that the contract that was in place until the end of the 2027 season has been extended by another year. She talks about her first time in the Gulsvart and looks forward to the continued development of both the team and herself. – We are a good team and have first and foremost created a good situation here before the fall. So I look forward to the coming time. Ismet Tursic, Head Coach – We are happy to have extended with Matilda. Since she came to us, she has gone from strength to strength. She has also made the absence of Alice feel much less. Jenny Holm, Women's Football Manager – Matilda came from playing in Division 2 and has quickly adapted to a new level and shown a huge improvement in her game. We believe very much in Matilda and she shows that she believes just as much in us and wants to be part of our journey upwards with this extension until 2028.
